PROGRAMA: ACTIVE SENIOR CITIZENSHIP

GAWING MAKABULUHAN A-19 MAYO 2019

4.      Allowance sa mga caregivers ng senior citizens: Para mabawasan ang burn-out feelings nila yung pagkabugnot sa pag-aalaga sa mga nakatatanda kailangan ito ng mga caregivers. Kailangan din ng Incentive para sa mga pamilya tulad ng mas malaking tax exemptions kapag may alaga silang senior citizens na walang pension;

5.     Hotline phone number para sa senior citizens lamang;

6.     Libreng tawag sa mga kamag-anak sa abroad ;

7. Libreng salamin sa mata at konsultasyon sa duktor;

8. Poster. Paglalagay ng poster sa bawa't restorant ng hotline number kung may reklamo ang senior citizen tungkol sa presyo ng babayarang pagkain;

9.     Bus and jeepney stops dapat may babala na ipahuhuli ang mga sasakyan na hindi papara para sa kanila; tax credit sa mga tutulong sa kanila;

10.     Diskuwento: lahat ng nagtitinda ng gamot, o herbals ay tatakdaang magbigay ng 20% discount;

11.     Art and music workshops sa bawa't barangay para sa senior citizens. Meron kasing nai insecure o nawawalan ng kumpiyansa sa sarili kapag kasama ang mga nakababatang umaawit sa rehearsals at performances;

12.    Premyo sa mga senior citizens na makakapag -perform o mag e-exhibit ng kanilang mga likhang sarili;

13.   Reward na one million pesos sa mga senior citizens na magdiriwang ng kanilang ika 100 taon;

14.   Census: mga social workers magse census ng lahat ng senior citizens sa bawa't  barangay at bibisitahin sila araw-araw kung may sakit at tatlong beses isang linggo kung magaling naman. Kakausapin pati ng social workers ang pamilya upang malaman ang talagang nangyayari sa kanya;

16.   Emergency vehicle: Ang sasakyan ng bawa't barangay ay dapat na available for emergency sa lahat ng senior citizens any time

PROGRAM: ACTIVE SENIOR CITIZENS

Senior citizens shared the best years of their youthful lives – their ideas, emotions and strength – in society. It is only proper and just that we are able to show our appreciation of their acts through a nurturing action for them, now that they are facing the twilight years.
Actually, we have high population of senior citizens. In NCR alone, senior citizens number 468,876.
Because of the mandated 20% discount card for buying  medicines and availing of other services in society senior citizens already feel deserving of equal treatment.

An indigent sector receives P500 every month and which will be increased by P200 as Unconditional Cash Grant under the TRAIN Law or Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion.

This will also increase by P300 monthly for those without regular na monthly income; those who are sick or sickly, the PWDs, those who do not receive any aid from any other government agency and without any permanent source of income.  It is highly important that our senior citizens receive support from authorities. They produce not only physical but also emotional satisfaction. This is because homes are not ordinarily supportive of the elderly as some consider them useless and ready to depart anytime.

Aside from the above benefits, I would like to add more services for the seniors which I will implement as soon as I take office:

1..Longer movie watching hours. It is sometimes pitiful to find senior citizens trekking to the malls to watch a movie only to be told that they cannot be allowed in as the picture has just been released or the day is a holiday. Our seniors then get humiliated. Those who can afford pay for a ticket while others just go back home or turn to other inexpensive recreational activities;
2. Free mineral water, minerals and vitamins. The elderly are in need of these to strengthen their muscles, refresh their mind so as not to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease;

3. Free laundry – most elderlies have difficult muscle controls. We should give them coupons for exchanging for laundry services at accredited companies;

4. Allowance for caregivers of senior citizens: to reduce the burn-out feelings of caregivers of the elderlies, especially as the latter are prone to be irritable and difficult to take care of, incentives should be provided for them. Also, the family should be given bigger tax incentives when they are taking care of a senior citizen/s;

5. Hotline phone number for senior citizens only;

6.  Free calls to relatives abroad; libreng tawag sa mga kamag-anak sa abroad;

7. Free eyeglasses and consultations with the doctor. Under Universal Health Care which has just been passed, hopefully this is already covered;
8. Posters shall be put up at every restaurant containing phone numbers to which the elderly may readily complain;
9. Bus and jeepney stops shall be provided with reminders that those who do not stop shall be arrested;

10. Discounts: All stores selling medicines, herbal or non-herbal shall be required to give 20% discount;

11. Art and music workshops shall be set up to help the elderlies maintain their good health. These separated workshops must be conducted in order to reduce the feelings of insecurity of the elderlies who could feel thus when in the company of younger participants;

12.    Prizes for elderlies who perform or exhibit their own works;

13.   Reward of one million pesos for elderlies who reach 100 years old;

14.   Emergency vehicle: This will be available for seniors’ condition only. One time, an ambulance worker came to pick up a senior citizen who suffered from a stroke. He stole the ring of the elderly without qualms. The relatives were shocked at the sight and were not able to complain right away. This occurred on August 19, 2007 at Barangay Donya Imelda. This should not happen at all, and never will under my administration.

15.   Census: census shall be conducted of senior citizens in every barangay to regulate visitations that will result in active support for them. Visitations shall be conducted at lease 3 times a week. They will be visited by social workers, interview them including their families;

16.  Neighbors:  Even neighbors shall be interviewed to get a truthful view of the real conditions of the elderlies. We shall revive the Bayanihan spirit in the communities; and

PROGRAMA: KAUNLARAN

3. Magkakaroon din ang Foodbanks ng regular na mga items tulad ng: bigas; sabon, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, baso, sabong panlaba, mga prutas packed na naka sachets;

            III. PAUTANGAN  Pautangan para sa pagpapagawa ng bahay na nasalanta ng bagyo;
ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM.  Magbibigay tayo ng Loans para sa small and medium enterprises. Bago maka avail, kailangang magkaroon muna sila ng training tungkol sa pagpapatakbo ng negosyo bago makatanggap ng loan;

IV. PINAGSAMA-SAMANG TULUNGANG PONDO: Lahat ng malalaking kumpanya sa Quezon City ay hihingan natin ng ambag sa isang central donation bank. Itong bankong ito ay pagkukunan ng pondo para palakasin ang food bank at iba pang tulong ng City Hall para sa mahihirap;

PROGRAM: DEVELOPMENT

REASON: We see the great gap in living standards in Quezon City: between the very, very affluent and the impoverished groups. This is why we should highlight our program for development:

We shall face the following:

I. HUNGER: no one should go hungry in Quezon City.

A. Solution:
 We must establish a Central Food Bank (CFB) that will take care of 6 other mini CFBx in every district;

Every district will distribute food to the hungry.

2. City Hall shall gather foods from volunteering individuals and restaurants whose leftovers at night may be had or received by CFB staff. In turn CFB shall distribute the same to each district depending on need or number of hungry folks.

3. We shall also have Foodbanks with regular items like rice, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, glass, laundry soap, chlorox, fruits, tin foods, etc.

4. Each individual family who avails of free food and/or groceries shall have a passbook wherein the received items shall be listed, and which will affirm that they are legally indigent. The leader shall be called Food Bank Capitan or Capitana. S enior citizens, PWDs, and other disadvantaged sectors shall be given priority.

II. HOUSING. Plenty of people reside in rolling carts parked on the city sidewalks.

City Hall shall rent land not being utilized for the purpose of setting up portable homes called Podhouse, only for sleeping purposes and not permanent residence. The homeless shall be resettled at more permanent land and homes later. These podhouses shall have toilets, baths, small park  and playground. Sa bawa’t distrito magkakaroon nitong Podhouses.
It will also have a small nook for reading materials and current newspapers.
The leader shall be called Pabahay Capitan with social  worker background.

III. LOANS. Strictly for reconstruction of homes of disaster victims.

IV. ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM. Loans for small businesses shall cover those indigents. To avail, they must undergo training on how to run a business first.

V. POOLED CHARITABLE FUNDS AND GRANTS: All big companies in QC will be tapped to donate to a central donation bank where funds may be sourced to strengthen the foodbank and to aid the poor. It shall have a list of requirements for those who want to avail of the funds.

PROGRAMA: KALUSUGAN

          Lungsod Quezon.

Our country is truly lucky: we have lots of fertile soil from the mountains to the lowlands; our seas are available for catching fish and other marine animals. We have plenty of rivers and 7,100 islands to boot that could feed our over 100 million citizens.

We cannot live without our natural resources from the land and seas and they could last us a lifetime if we properly practice what is called sustainable development.

(This means, our resources will not be depleted because we shall insure that they still proliferate through careful logging, fishing and other industrial practices. For example, the fish would not decrease if we would not include the small fries. Nor the forests would turn bald if we plant new seedlings to replace those trees that have been cut. Our rivers also would not turn dry if chemicals or wastes are not thrown into them. )

For a healthy physical constitution the  Holistic Approach* shall be used when taking care of the health of the citizens of Quezon City.

Let us eat vegetables, fruits, herbal medicines that are sourced from animals and fish. Hence in my capacity as a mayor of the City, I shall require the installation of offering herbal medicines in the botica of every barangay;

We shall hire naturapathic  doctors who instruct the pharmacists as to what herbal medicines could be stacked in the pharmacy. Consultations shall be free. The City Hall shall reserved P30,000.00 herbal medicines in every barangay monthly;

All these shall be free or shall be offered under very reduced rates.

The budget for health shall be for  facilities: weighing scales for babies and for adults, measuring instruments for blood pressure; pregnancy testing gadgets;  free vitamins and minerals and many more.

We shall strengthen the body, mind, emotions and spirit of the citizens of Quezon City.

NB: The holistic approach is a type of healing whereby the illness of an individual is regarded holistically. The medicines under this approach are sourced from nature. Instead of just prescribing medicines for the physical constitution, the approach also covers what foods are to be eaten; how often a certain massage or exercise are to be done, how  to use a certain type of healing oil; how to use foot bath and many more.

KILUSANG PANGKABABAIHAN

    Dear Friends in the women's movement

    Our country is experiencing an upheaval of our principles - equality, development and peace. Equality is still an elusive goal as the statistics on violence shows. in Quezon City this is particularly acute - as many lowly educated sectors reside here.

    Yet we must vigilant because we need to protect and preserve the lives of women as we are the carriers of the race. No child will be born without the woman. The womb is very important and invaluable in insuring that our race continues.

    I vow to put up a research and training unit in every barangay so that we shall have constant, relevant and honest updates on the status of every woman,girl child and woman elderly in third world communties.

    By having these data, the policies, programs and projects that we will propose and approve shall be correct, relevant and based on the their actual situation.

    Should you have additional comments i will be very glad to hear or read them and act accordingly. I shall conduct regular consultations with all GD units from every district and barangay.

    I wish that every family in the community will have a harmonious relationship, the man paternalistic taking care of the physical and emotional needs of the family and the woman contributing her talents and skills not only in building a home but also in making every member of the family happy and also feeling as one with the community.

    Thank you very much for the camaraderie we share.

    PROGRAMA: TRABAHO

    GAWING MAKABULUHAN ANG A-19 MAYO 2019

    PROGRAMA: TRABAHO

    Image

    Mahal kong mga Kababayang Manggagawa:

    Mabuhay kayo!

    Matagal na akong  nagsusuri at nagsusulat tungkol sa larangang paggawa. May sinulat ako at ginawang pelikula tungkol sa mga nagtatrabaho sa niyugan. Ang titulo ay: COCONUT, OUR CROP IN THE PHILIPPINES, THEIR FOOD OVERSEAS.

At naisulat ko rin ang trabaho nila sa aking aklat: Filipino Women in the World of Work.

    Ang paglahok ko sa pulitika ay dulot ng aking pananaliksik at pagsusulat sa diyaryo .
    Ngayon gusto ko nang direktang buhayin ang aking mga inaasam para sa ating mga kababayan dito sa Quezon City.

    Marami akong plano para sa mga manggagawa dito sa syudad.
    1.  Mababang halaga ng pagkain;2.

    2. Food banks para sa mga kapos sa pagkain;

    3. Pagtatayo ng job units sa bawa’t barangay: ise-survey ang kakayahan ng bawa’t kababayan sa bawa’t barangay; maghahanap ng trabaho para sa bawa’t manggagawa;

    4. Unemployment benefits para sa mga nawalan ng trabaho sa loob ng 6 buwan;

    5.  Palalakasin ang daycare services sa bawa’t barangay para ang mga magulang ay may mapaglalagakan at ang mga anak nila ay mapangangalagaan ng matino at  tapat na mga naninilbihang social workers;

    Kung may mga ideya kayo kung paano nating pagagandahin ang sitwasyon ng ating mga manggagawa dito sa Lungsod, magbubukas ang tanggapan ng Alkalde ng isang araw kada linggo para asikasuhin ang mga reklamo ninyo.

    Magtatakda ako ng isang araw bawat linggo para magkaroon ng talakayan tungkol sa buhay ng mga manggagawa, kasama ang mga asosasyon, unyon at NGO na tumutulong sa mga manggagawa.

    Sana ay magkatulungan tayo at sisiguraduhin ko ang tunay na pagbabago ng buhay ng mga manggagawa sa ating Lungsod Quezon.

    CARING FOR WORKERS

    Image

    My dear Fellow Workers:

    Greetings.

    I have been researching, analyzing and writing about work since the 80’s. When I researched about the coconut industry starting in the 70’s, I was able to write, direct and produce a documentary entitled, COCONUT, OUR CROP IN THE PHILIPPINES, THEIR FOOD OVERSEASE. It tackles the lives of coconut workers from the farm to the desiccated factories -  Red V, Peter Paul, and Franklin Baker. I met many labor groups who decried the low wages they were being given.
    When I went to Europe in 1981 to show my films at the First International Conference of Women in Film and Video, in Amsterdam Nederlands, I took the opportunity to research on our Filipino migrant workers, while showing my films in London, paris, Rome and Brussels. I met our fellow Kababayan who were working there and felt very depressed about their second or third level status vis-à-vis the nationals there.

    From that sojourn, I was able to develop two documentaries, one of which had an experimental approach: , For the Next Guest – about a Filipina chambermaid in a posh hotel; and Through the Four Seasons, a nursing aide’s life in London. I was also able to write, direct and produce a Super 8mm film animation entitled Friendly Relations, a symbolic description about the askewed relationship between First and Third World countries in terms of trade.

    When I arrived in the country in 1982, I was able to finish my pamphlet, Philippine Women in the World of Work.

    In the 90’s, I researched on the lives of workers in our country and came up with an unpublished article, Unearthing Philippine Realities of Workers. My editor was not allowed to publish it.
    However, under the Depthnews Asia syndicate, I was able to get my article, about the Sakadas of  Negros Occidental which then was circulated in all Asian newspapers.

    My desire to get involved more directly in politics is borne of my researches and writings in the papers. I would like to be there in the forefront, being a major player in the approach to developing more humane, all-inclusive programs for the constituents of Quezon City.

    I have many plans for workers in Quezon City:

    1.  Providing cheaper food by City Hall purchasing agricultural crops directly from provinces and passing them on to restaurant owners, and markets here;

    2. Setting up of Food Banks for those who cannot meet their needs especially at night;

    3. Setting up of job units at every barangay. We will survey the skills and talents of everyone in each barangay, and help find matching jobs for them;

    4. Providing Unemployment Benefits for those who get separated or dismissed from work for 6 months or until they find another job;

    5. Insuring that daycare services are competently staffed so that workers, especially women would feel secure that their children can be taken care of professionally by social workers;

    If you have other ideas that you would like to be implemented, I shall insure that the office of the Mayor shall be open, once every week to take care of your needs and complaints. We shall also have discussions on the lives of workers, including associations, unions and NGOs that are assisting workers. Aside from these, we shall get the views of company and business owners on how to improve the lives of workers, aside from increasing their salaries.

    Meanwhile, let us work for a renewed vigor of City Life that is alive for everyone, especially the workers who provide the lifeblood of businesses.
